As he laid there unconscious underneath the hood of the car that jus hit him. The sound of extreme pain was heard as he disappeared from sight. I stood there in shock. 11 years of his life had flashed through my mind. I cud see people rushing toward me in concern, but i couldn’t hear their sympathic cries...i dragged him from underneath the tire and he was lifeless, his body lymph, his soul no longer visible. The smell of rigamortus, began to linger the air as i grasped him praying he would move or bark. Tears flooded my eyes as i begged for help. My buddy, my best friend, my partner in crime, my soul mate, my reflection was now gone. Each second that passed seemed to be hours as the NYPD squad car descended threw traffic. The sirens blaring, speed was pumping, cars moved out the way as he flew down the West Side Highway. The officer escorted me into the emergency room and yelled for attention. “Emergency, Emergency, please help!” To our astonishment, it was closed for the evening. Our rush continued on as he dashed past the red lights down 5th ave, finally reaching our destination of hope. his body locked in place and remained soul ridden as he lay on the cold metal examing table.
45 minutes of agony, pain, despair and tears, he came prancing threw the swinging doors and rushed into my arms. I quote the veterinarian,” he is one fucking lucky dog”.....we stood tall, strong and proud as we walked home. He was proud to have miraculously survived a horrific accident and me; proud his life was given a second chance...it was by far the best walk we ever had.
